Habib and Webb's story
Born in Sudan, Habib had a goal of working in metal fabrication and was undertaking TAFE studies. Unfortunately, Habib was unable to find an employer willing to give him an opportunity to gain practical work experience.
Through a PaTH internship, Habib started working at an engineering company committed to supporting and developing new recruits. Workskil Australia helped Habib address transport and communication issues he was experiencing and he started ongoing work with the employer this year.
Webb had a range of experience and skills gained through the mining sector, but he faced the barriers of lacking accreditation for his skills. He was also new to the local area and, as such, had no local contacts.
A Workskil Australia team member was able to quickly see that Webb was the right fit for the engineering company Habib now works at. He was taken on initially to fill an urgent need for staff before the end of year shutdown, but after demonstrating his competence at work, Webb is now an ongoing full time employee.
