Refugee Employment Program
Workskil Australia have had the privilege of partnering with Community Corporate to deliver the Woolworths Refugee Program in Sydney.
The Refugee Program consisted of a two-day intensive coaching course for 14 refugees. The group included people aged between 19-49 years from Iraq, Syria, Iran and Afghanistan. All have been in Australia for less than four years.
After completing the coaching course, participants commenced work experience placements with Woolworths before being considered for further employment. Ten participants have already been offered work. This program is a wonderful illustration of the value of community cooperation and the results that can be achieved through incentives aimed at providing positive outcomes for everyone involved. A big thank you to all and especially Woolworths who have supported the program as part of their wider diversity and inclusion employment initiatives across the group. Thanks also to Mantra and the Accommodation Association of Australia for providing a subsidised venue and catering for the program.
