Kai's Story

Kai's Story

Kai, a young Indigenous candidate with experience as a cleaner, came to us in 2015 seeking employment within the Community Services Industry. The Victor Harbor team worked closely with Kai and supported him to gain his First Aid Ticket Certificate. Kai was then referred to the Workskil Indigenous team for employment opportunities. National Indigenous Account Manager, Anita, and Indigenous Mentor, Aaron, worked closely with Kai and referred him to a full time Community Service Traineeship with Baptist Care SA.

Kai was successful in gaining the traineeship opportunity, which he commenced April 2016. He completed the one-year traineeship and then achieved employment as a Support Worker.

Anita bumped into Kai at the Indigenous Business Trade Fair in July 2018. Kai thanked Workskil Australia for all of the assistance provided more than two years ago and advised that, upon completion of his traineeship, he continued working for Baptist Care SA for another year. Kai was then successful in gaining employment as an Indigenous Case Worker for Aboriginal Sobriety Group. He is enjoying working with the Indigenous community to provide a high level of support to Indigenous people across South Australia. Kai is very thankful for the support from Workskil Australia to commence into this industry. Great work, Kai!
