Youth Jobs PaTH (Prepare – Trial – Hire) Internships offer you the chance to trial a young person aged 17-24 in a work experience placement for 4 to 12 weeks. Insurance arrangements are covered by the Australian Government as well as a $1,000 (GST Inclusive) payment to you, as an employer, for hosting a placement. You do not need to pay your Intern a wage. Workskil Australia will coordinate the trial for you and also cover the cost of any Personal Protective Equipment, tickets, training or compulsory pre-employment requirements you may have.
The young person also receives an additional $200 per fortnight in their Government Allowance for participating. This is a ‘win-win’ program that gives young people starting out their work life a real opportunity to show you what they can do for your business. If you make an employment offer to the young person as a result, further assistance is also available.
Businesses in South Australia can now register for a Job Accelerator Grant to assist in employing additional full-time, part-time and casual employees, with up to $10,000 ($5,000 per year) for every new job created.
