What will I get from the Transition to Work service?

You will get a Youth Coach who will work intensively with you to help you gain employment or further education.  You will get assistance with personal issues impacting you, assistance to get your driver’s licence, vocational training, job search skills, access to IT and WiFi, and support with motivation and confidence.

Whatever you need help with we will support you every step of the way. We will connect you to the right employers and education organisations to help you achieve your career goals.


Referred by Centrelink or a jobactive provider

Centrelink or your jobactive provider can assess your eligibility for the Transition to Work service, if you are in receipt of income support payments from Centrelink. If you receiving services from a jobactive provider you must be classified as a Stream C job seeker. If you are being referred by Centrelink you must be classified via assessment as a Stream B job seeker.

Direct Referrals

You, your school, youth service or, parents/guardians can refer directly to the service. To be eligible you must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • 15-21 years of age
  • Have completed no higher than Year 11 or less
  • Have completed no higher than a Certificate II qualification
  • Not currently in an employment service
  • Not currently working more than 8 hours week
  • Not attending education for 13 weeks
  • Not enrolled in education, or have an approved exemption from attending secondary schooling
