Here are five free apps that our Youth and Allied Health teams have curated to support your health and wellbeing.

These apps can be used as part of your own self-care. These apps are not a replacement for professional help. If you are experiencing any mental health issue that require support, talk to your GP for support or contact Lifeline or Kids Helpline.

Disclaimer: although these apps are free, they do have some advertisements and some apps also include optional in app purchases which enhance the functionality of the app.

ReachOut Breathe 

Using simple visuals, ReachOut Breathe helps you to control your breath and measures your heart rate in real-time using the camera in your phone. This means that you can actively address the onset of physical stress symptoms such as shortness of breath, increased heart rate and a tightening of the chest.

Black Dog Snapshot  

Black Dog Institute’s Snapshot is a mobile app that allows Australian adults aged 18 years and over to measure and monitor mental health and lifestyle factors that influence their wellbeing. Your answers to a series of simple questions allow Snapshot to assess your general happiness, mood and anxiety, as well as work stress, sleep, social support and alcohol intake. The feedback it provides you is based on comparisons with Australian population data including the Black Dog index. All help and support recommendations made by Snapshot are reputable and evidence-based programs and resources. Snapshot is completely confidential, and your responses and scores are not shared with any third parties. The app is also password protected on your mobile device.


Tell MoodMission how you’re feeling and it will give you a tailored list of 5 Missions that can help you feel better. Missions are activities and mental health strategies that are quick, easily achievable, and backed up by scientific evidence. MoodMission is based in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), which is an evidence-based psychological therapy for anxiety and depression. Anyone can use MoodMission, whether you just want a lift in your day or need a bit more help recovering from anxiety or depression.

7 minute Workout 

The 7 Minute Workout app is the #1 fitness app in 127 countries. Get fitter with fast, simple daily workouts. 12 high intensity bodyweight exercises. 30 seconds per exercise, 10 seconds rest between exercises.
