Crisis and Emergency Numbers

Saving a list of emergency contacts in your phone takes the guesswork out of crisis situations and helps connect you with support when you need it the most.

Calling Triple Zero (000)

When calling Triple Zero (000), you will hear a recorded message before transfering to a Telstra operator who asks if you need police, fire or ambulance. You may also be asked to provide your location.

If you call 000 and are unable to speak to the operator, hold the line as you are transferred to an interactive service that asks you to press 55 on your phone. This spurs the police into action. They will either attempt to call you back or send a patrol car to your address. Possibly both.
